Storytelling, storytelling, and more storytelling, plus some amazing music! The night kicks off with students recounting local and glocal folktales, then moves to a re-telling of H. G. Well's War of the Worlds, set in Bryan/College Station, followed by a live podcast on local folktales. The night caps off with a rare BCS appearance by dungeon synth artists from Texas, including Apoxupon, Hexpartner, Black Magic Cyborg, and Jaycie Carver.

Enhancing the monthly Bryan event, Lorefest will be adding a folklore puppet and music spectacle, a dance piece with a giant orge, festival games and video games based on local folklore, food to sample inspired by local and glocal folklore, plus an escape room and a ghost walk through Downtown Bryan. All events statr or are housed in the Parker-Astin Gallery on East Main, except the Lorefest ghost walk that starts at 7pm at the Carnegie Historical Library.

The Lorefest Folktale Conference is an academic outlet for anyone interested in presenting research or discussing creative works related to local/glocal folklore. We are extremely proud to host keynote speaker, Sandy Stone for the event, an amazing opportunity for students of TAMU and the local BCS communities!

​Philadelphia residents, but Texas natives, movement and sound art duet slowdanger will be returning to the Lone Star State to present an experimental work Abyss, based on the Tale of the Goatman.

​

A reception for the week's events will be held in the lobby of LAAH prior to the performance.

Lorefest is a community-building project bringing together local BCS residents and TAMU students through an exploration of Texas and Glocal folklore.

Lorefest is made possible in part with a City of Bryan Arts and Tourism Development Grant, a RESI Co-Sponsorship, funding from the Center for Digital Humanities, support from the PVFA Performance and Visual Studies Program, support from the TAMU Communications and Journalism Department,  the TAMU Department of English, and TAMIDS Funding.
